OUR Community

We believe tradition and innovation are two halves of the same coin. We recognize the importance of traditional craft skills as part of our cultural heritage, in order to help create these beautiful innovative pieces. “Making things and passing on knowledge through the generations is part of what makes us human.” In order to help preserve these skills now and for future generations we work closely with small workshops and craftsmen. We accompany them at every step of the manufacturing process and push their skills further. Nizaa also works with a charitable organization called Windows of Opportunity that helps provide funds for Indian jeweller communities.

Window Of Opportunity

Our mission is to break the poverty cycle and preserving heritage skills and crafts through a holistic approach, collaborating with the most vulnerable Indian communities that are currently hit the hardest by the Covid-19 crisis. Honouring our commitment to support the self-sufficiency of Indian communities, and to sustain Indian heritage, craftsmanship and knowledge we have created the ‘Jali Sutra’ armlet. ‘Jali’ is the term for perforated stone or latticed screen, usually with an ornamental pattern. It was constructed by carving into stone and applied in Indian architecture. ‘Sutra’ is a sacred thread or teaching or execution of a ritual.

The windows of opportunity organisation, through the sales of the ‘Jali sutra’ armlet helps preserve the livelihood of these artisans. Wear or share a Jali Sutra, as a visual reminder of the opportunity which lies ahead. No matter how small a window might seem, the light will come in! We grow together. We believe collaboration creates community.
